D11.D Biodiversity

    Objectives

  • To protect and restore the drainage reserve corridor which provides both conservation and drainage functions.
  • To preserve habitat connectivity within the precinct and broader area.
  • To ensure sustainable conservation outcomes.

Controls

D11.13 Existing vegetation within the biodiversity and drainage corridor must be retained.

D11.14 A development application for large-scale residential accommodation or major subdivision must include a Vegetation Management Plan detailing how vegetation is to be protected, rehabilitated, and managed before, during, and after construction, and includes progress reporting/monitoring. The Vegetation Management Plan must prioritise actions that focus on optimising the landscape to function as a fauna corridor.

D11.15 Road and drainage networks must use native landscaping to enhance the urban landscape, and where appropriate, Koala feed trees shall be planted.

D11.16 Drainage infrastructure is to provide for fauna connectivity. Major infrastructure, such as culverts, are to be designed and located to ensure corridors continue to provide safe passage for wildlife.

D11.17 Drainage infrastructure must facilitate ecologically beneficial landscaping native revegetation to enhance fauna connectivity.

D11.18 Development fronting or adjacent to the drainage reserve, should not compromise the safe movement of Koala across the site.
